NEW BLOG! At the end of February, I attended the Thrive Blog Conference…my main goal with going to the conference was to either completely abandon my personal blogging efforts, or, get motivated and give it one last shot. I decided that my old blog New Mom Problems {which evolved from a previous dead end, ha!}, kind of pigeon-holed me into being a “Mommy Blogger” — which, duh, I write for Houston Moms Blog, so, yes, I suppose I am, BUT, I felt like with such a narrow focus, I was really losing a bit of my identity, and had become altogether unmotivated. So, here we are! I designed this blog to be somewhat minimalist so that as I build my content, there are no distractions, no conflicts of interest — just a blank slate to say what I want to say…it’s pretty refreshing, honestly. So, click around {obviously this is my FIRST post on here, so, I’ve got a ways to go!}, and I do hope you’ll stay for a while! All social media links are in the sidebar, so, connect with me!

On Sunday, Amanda {Momma’s Gonna Snap} took some seriously SWEET pictures of Caroline for Easter. She posted a sneak peek on Sunday evening, and Oh.My.Goodness. I knew that this was going to be a great shot when she took it, but, gosh if it wasn’t just perfect. I cannot wait to see the rest! Amanda always does SUCH a great job on all of our photos {she actually took the picture of Caroline on my home page AND my head shot, too!}, so, if you are in the Houston area, and are looking for a great photographer for ANY occasion, definitely get in touch with her! We adore you, Amanda!

A week from today, my sister and I will be headed to New Orleans for a quick over-nighter in the Crescent City! I am SO excited to #1 see my beautiful sister {and celebrate her 27th!}, but #2 get to explore New Orleans all over again! It’s only about a 5 hour drive from Houston, so, we’ve {Tate and I} gone a couple of times for the Sugar Bowl, and other random U of H games when he was playing/coaching, but, it’s been at least TEN years since I’ve gone there to just enjoy myself. I am looking forward to some delicious meals, snapping  pics of architecture and trees dripping with Spanish moss, and definitely visiting a cemetery or two — I mean, they’re so incredibly beautiful! What are some of your favorite things to do in New Orleans? Do you have any recommendations?!

So, I’m doing a 5k tomorrow. That I trained for 2x. Seriously. I signed up for this 5k in January with the intention of training regularly and maybe getting a somewhat respectable time. Well, that didn’t happen, but, I’m too stubborn to succomb to my unpreparedness. I’m just going to use this as a starting point, and motivation to do better. I’ve already signed up for my next one in May, and I feel like I can only go up from here! This will be my first 5k since I had Caroline, and actually, my first 5k since I was pregnant with her {3+ years now!}, so, I am really excited to just lace up my shoes, feel burning in my legs, and fill my lungs with some fresh air.

Yesterday Tate and I celebrated our four year wedding anniversary. Not sure how it has already been four years?! It really seems like we weren’t married all that long ago! Which, in the scheme of things, four years isn’t very much time at all, however, when you take into consideration that our first year of marriage was a complete and utter disaster, it kind of feels like a miracle. This past year has been difficult at times {but what marriage isn’t?!}, but, I have really seen the absolute best from Tate with regard to his character, and his ability to make difficult decisions. He really has been a rock this year — he has worked tirelessly to make sure our family was provided for, as well as those he works for and with, and just loves us to the end of the earth. Despite all of the challenges, and any bumps in the road we encounter, I feel so fortunate that he is mine.

Thank you!!! — Yes, sign up for a 5k asap! They are so fun! I used to do them all of the time before having Caroline, and it was always fun to try to beat my previous times, and just improve little by little. Hope you have a great weekend! xo
